José Bedia was trained in a traditional academic style, but his work promotes his interest in the indigenous cultures of Africa and America. The artist lived and worked at the State University of New York Collegue at Old Westbury, and with the Dakota Sioux on the Rosebud Reservation. Bedia returned to Cuba, where his work was influenced by native Cuban religions. He currently lives in México.
