  • I am very disillusioned with Maya Angelou after watching this.I thought she was a wise and intelligent lady. She has her information mixed-up. She talks about Parker when she means Sam Phillips. Many of Elvis's black peers credited Elvis for opening the door for black music and artists including B.B.King and James Brown, whom she mentioned. Its made me sad watchiing this clip.

  • She can barely conceal her contempt, very sad. Elvis would have told you himself who and how he was influenced..and ya his timing on the scene could not have been better. If it was indeed Elvis who opened the door for black artists to break thru, well that to me is reason to celebrate not denigrate him. James Brown asked for and got a private vigil with Elvis as Elvis lay dead in his casket. That speaks volumes as to what his peers thought of him.

  • This woman is clueless about Elvis. Period.

  • Elvis was a product of all musics coming together in one human being. He sounded unlike anything that came before him and he influenced everything that followed. TCB!

  • First off it wasn't Col. Parker, it was Sam Phillips who made the remark. Secondly, Mr. Phillips never used the word nigger in his quote. He said, " If I could find a white man that could sing with the same feel as the lack man, I could make a million dollars". Elvis wasn't trying to impersonate the black man. Elvis was a musical sponge. He soaked up all music that he heard. This is how he formed his own unique style. He infused country music, rhythm & blues and gospel. Elvis was a product of a

  • this woman is a cunt

  • I never did like Maya Angelou. I like her even less NOW!

  • Niggers just can't stand when white people kick ass.. Sorry Bitch but Elvis was the best of all time..

  • @sakinehbs unlucky mate.

  • THE King opened the door for niggers, you bitch. they should have kept you all as slaves, not to give you power to talk like that about the Elvis....LONG LIVE THE KING ELVIS..

  • that was a southern rock a billy singer not an imitation of anyone as a matter of fact quite original ,a combo of country blues and the crooners, you cannot blame racism on elvis,a very sad and pathetic analogy

  • Some times the truth hurts, but many white people have said the same thing she has. Just look up "zappa talks about elvis" or "ian anderson talks about elvis" but then again, john lennon, zz top and may other worship elvis. to each their own. I just saw on youtube "pete townsand saying he hates led zep "they suck". I never knew he hated them. I hate some great rockers too. So what? Who cares?
