@iamstillmyself Exactly, yep! I went to a film presentation of this in downtown L.A. the first year of the L.A. Marathon, and this was on the film track. The episode began with the other opening music theme, and closed with this version. I have a short excerpt of this event with the extremely favorable crowd reaction somewhere... :)

This was my favorite show as a kid in australia. I was very young but it made a huge impression on me - It use to play on the ABC- I also remember both theme song versions & as someone said here singing along only to find the words changed. This version was definetly the earliest & tho I lliked muchly, the later version was the 1 for me.

I think I like this one more

I seem to remember this slower more Australian version when I was growing up. Skippy I feel, continued the Australian and Asian T.V. theme familiaratity.

@iamstillmyself Sometimes I see cartoons were they change the lyrics on the theme song for 1 or 2 epsodes then change it back to the original song. Sometimes they would only do it for the broadcast version of those shows. I think the creators just want to see how other people think of the new song.

it sorta sounds like a old Christmas song o_0

This was my favorite cartoon when I was a little girl!

I seem to remember there were two theme songs... I was very young but I vaguely remember singing along and the words had changed....anyway, it was my favorite cartoon way back then....thanks!!
I believe this is the theme that was released on vinyl. It was never used on the show itself.

@DefconWarningSystem If you know of the English Kimba theme being released on vinyl, I would love to know the details. I have never seen such a thing. Anyway, this was indeed used on the broadcast version of the show, but not every episode. I know it was on episode 3 as shown on WDCA long ago. I also have a 16mm film (TV station copy) with this theme.

is this the first or second dubed version?

This is from the first dubbing. Probably a demo version of the theme song, although I have not been able to confirm this. (They also tried editing the Japanese music into a theme; that made it to air in a couple of cities.)
