well in the periodic table fluorine n chlorine are part of the family called the halogens. All of the chemicals found in this family are poisonous. As you have said carcinogens or toxins, they are toxic...however, because they are diluted or otherwise used in small amounts they shouldnt do damage (unless you drink a considerable amount) If u think sodium chloride- thats got chlorine n a metal put together yet we eat that everyday n is needed for our body.just think toothpaste has fluorine in it.
