Sunday Kitchen #70 Daikon

Of course these aren't the only ways you can cook daikon, there are many more.

Check it out, daikon has many other names: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daikon

  • Where do you buy your Daikon in Auckland?

  • I'm new to Daikons,I'm growing them in my garden this summer.I pulled out a 5 incher and tried it.It was absolutely nastyIt was very bitter, hot, bland. That was 1-1/2 months ago.Now they are huge.I just pulled a 12-14" long X 3" diameter out of my garden, but I don't know what to do with it ? What is the best tasting, easy dish you can make from daikons ? Can they be vacuum sealed and frozen for later use ?

  • I've had everyone of them, and make them often, and you make them look so good. Grated daikon with ponzu over steak is really good. Really nice video. Thanks

  • this looks so tasty

iv fallen in love with beer and your cooking shows i can do without your cooking but i cant do with out my beer.

    Go figure

  • Try shredding the daikon with some onions and tomatoes. Put it all into a bowl with salty water and vinegar. Let it sit for awhile, until the everything's nice and salty. (My mom doesn't keep the vegetables in there for long; she just picks them up with her hands and squeezes the water out. I like salty food, though, so I don't bother with that.) Eat with rice. Being American, I have encountered very few people who enjoy this, mostly because it smells awful. But I could eat it forever.

  • Daikon is over-rated! Try potatoes in all these recipies and you'll see the difference

  • Thanks for this! I keep seeing daikon in the supermarket but I had no idea how to cook it.

  • daikon reminds me of another thing i use to love....i cant remember the name of the food but they look so similar. If i could only taste the daikon i would know for sure if its the same thing. :/
