Matt's sound with Memphis Slim (on the album "At The Gate Of Horn") was unique.Chilling & spooky are the only words i can use. You are right, his technique was years ahead of anyone else.

In music,there is a such thing as being -too- good: People want their kindergarten stuff. The most popular Matt ever was can be seen in the "Blues Brothers" movie, where he didn't get to play one-hundreth of what he really does. That's ok, there are plenty of jazz geniuses who will never be nearly as successful as Matt has been.
