My second go at Renaissance Blues - taking a 400 year old piece of lute music by John Dowland and creating a blues slide guitar version. It is played solo on an electric guitar in an open e tuning with a Boss RC3 looper providing the backing. You can compare it with the original which I play on classical guitar right at the end of the recording.
The original was in B minor. I took it to E minor and used the following minor chord sequence:
E E E G-B
E E E G-B
B A G E
B A G E
This all provided a good fit with blues.
great sound. lovely sound. so relaxing

Ive never heard this piece, but following a wind instrument is an excellent choice for expression. Nice work.

A beautifully haunting rendition. I came here after reading your fascinating piece on Amazon's sci-fi forum about Philip K Dick, my favourite sci-fi author, and his love of Dowland's music, which I had found from Sting's recommendation. It's amazing how all these things are linked!
