Your heart is in the right place, but you are not correct. While fully locking out knees in a SLDL is a bad idea, its not really because of injury concerns, it is more to do with the fact it is harder to get a good strong high tension position for the hamstrings when knees are locked out. In this particular exercise it is sort-of dangerous to have locked out knees. But for squats, deadlifts etc, you MUST lockout strongly as a fundemental and useful part of the exercises.
