The video taken was only of the one corner of the structure. Side A / D. If you would be looking on at the scene for a bigger view, the fire stretched about another 20 yards to the left and about another 25 square yards to the rear. Before dispatched, there was an EMA director on scene announcing multiple exposures with a fully involved structure. When the Truck and Engine arrived, there was a water issue. When it was resolved, opps. continued and the masterstream on the truck was utilized.

  • were you guys having a water supply problem? i would have immediately had my 1st due engine stretch a 1 3/4 on the exposure and big fire big hose stretch two 2 1/2's on that building with your 2nd due picking you up and go from there thats a surround and drown all my engine companys and truck companys would be just dumping water on it if i were in command or was there any left to save?

  • @ANONYMOUS1747 ... if you listen...when the view changes to the scene.... engine 46 was to hit the hydrant at hoss's... they did...i personally was on side b...the building was a "warehouse" with wood inside... there was a house becoming involved on side be...that's where you saw the truck crew go... to protect that side B exposure... the engine hit the hyrdant... but then there was some confusion with the 3rd engine which arrived as the engine layed up to the scene....

  • the 3rd due engine....from what i understand... actually removed the 5 inch from the hydrant to hook up the Hemat valve which cost us all that time...i don't know why...i know it helps when you have a long lay or a bad hydrant...but this was a GREAT hydrant..soo...was it worth the time?? we'll never know... but our truck...which is basically a quint...only carries 500 gals... so we were at the mercy of the engine....AND I was mad cuz I was on side B by myself sittin on a 2 1/2 when we lost water

  • thats one hot fire if the building 10 yards away catches

  • it was a hot fire....i could feel it as soon as i got out the truck...i couldn't believe i filmed that radiated heat igniting the exposure building...one thing that blows my mind is, a couple lights on our truck were warped from the heat...the exposure building caught...but that plastic tent right beside the structure never melted...plastic can catch fire but for the most part it melts...i wouldve expected all that plastic covering to melt too...hmmm

  • That sucks guys... I fortunately have never encountered a water issue. It must suck being there at the call, using up your booster tank for absolutely nothing.... 500 gallons wont do anything on that big of a building. A little excitement on the radio? haha! Good job guys! Keep up the good work.

    -your fellow volunteer firefighter.

  • I actually remember this fire...I was on vacation with family in Hershey and the day before we were leaving we saw this huge smoke tower in the west from Route 422. We tried to get closer and get a better look...didn't get very far though. Pretty sure we heard you guys responding though. :) Looks like you guys had a good worker that day. Very rare that we get one of these kinds of fires up here (my dad and I are FFs on Long Island). Glad no one got hurt. Stay Safe and God Bless.

  • WOW, Q...
