He was the radio man in "The High and The Mighty" who relayed messages from the crippled plane to the coast guard.

His parents were actors in a traveling tent show in South Texas. He was born in Aguilares Tx where his parents were performing. John Wayne saw this show and signed him up for a seven year contract and his comedic career began. After he passed away his family suggested that Aguilares place a plaque in his name. It might happen.

At the time he did the You Bet Your Life show, he wasn't famous at all. John Wayne saw the show and was so taken by Pedro's appearance that he signed him to a seven year contract, Wayne later extended the contract and Pedro continued working with John Wayne until 1974. Pedro appeared in many of John Wayne's movies, but my favorite would have to be Rio Bravo. .For a guy that couldn't read or write Pedro did pretty good for himself. His wife would read the script to him and he memorized his lines.

Apparently this appearance changed his life - catch the "Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez - Walk of Fame video" on Youtube. He inspired Cuba Gooding Jr and Cheech Marin!
Look up Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez on Wikipedia :)
