Juice and Dolly together -- Wow!!! These two gals hbasically defined '80s country-pop. They, along with Kenny Rogers, were the hottest country-pop acts going. Other artists tried a similar sound (Alabama, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris) but nobiody burned up the pop charts like Juice, Dolly and Kenny.

Well you said that! Age is a number and time marches on and you find it has marched across your face! LOL! I am 45 and I never had a 1959Cadillac but I once had a 1959 Edsel....so I said that!

Juice DEFINITELY lip-synched 'Tell me'. Juice's studio version of 'Ride 'em, cowboy' hit #32 in Billboard. RIP, Paul Davis (writer of 'Ride 'em'. God bless!

suzi J I AM A SINGER, AND OUT ON OUR BOAT I SANG "EVERYTIME A TEAR DROP FALLS" SOMEONE TOOK THIS TAPE ON ME, AM I DREAMING OR DIDN'T SHE DO THIS SONG, CAN'T FIND ANY WHERE, BUT LOVE HER

I suspect Juice lipsynched to the record because she was trying to promote it as it was her current single (and obviously wanted to make it sound like the original record sounded). She didn't have her own band with her, and Dolly's studio band probably couldn't have replicated the sound of the record like her own band could have. It was Dolly's band that back them on "Ride 'em Cowboy".

just fantastic! what great performers!

It might be easier to lip-synch but I bet she sounded good that day. She looked warm. She always looks good! :D

what?huh?
Well, I didn't Favorite this today because I set out on this Sunday afternoon to put something on top of Stevie Nicks' "White Winged Dove" (US Fest) and this does not qualify as "live". I've always supported lip-synching and Juice is such a great musician that it worked, even though it didn't work! Maybe tommorrow...I did watch "Ride "Em Cowboy" very closely and that WAS live. I get the feeling Juice was belting it out in the audience studio with no mic, wish I was there. :D

I use "live" to indicate that it is not the conceptual video (like you would see on MTV or VH-1). I think the music labels liked when the songs sounded just like the record did on the radio (to sell the record better) so they had performers lip sync... plus it is much easier to lip sync than to warm up and sound good.. I also don't think TV studios (especially back in the 80s) had the equipment (mixers, etc) or staff to let singers perform actually live.
