BTW I got a Q9550, a Gigabyte x48-dq6 and 4gb ram.

@Damowhite123 will do :)

@Damowhite123 try to find benchmarks that show minimum fps, sometimes sure the average or max goes up, but then a bottleneck gets hit where at certain points the game is running the same speed as a single gpu
also in my experience, crysis warhead got several fps boosts over the last 2 years, especially in dx10 mode, so some benchmarks might be out of date (including this video)

@kn00tcn huh I didn't know that.....I'll have a think i might be able to save another week or so... all i've been doing is looking at benchmarks and what frames the card gets in games at 1080p... thanks for the info

@Damowhite123 CF & SLI mirror vram, only 1gb is usable, but i'm 1920x1200 & it's fine (crysis 2 beta was acting funny, if i change rez & back, scaling goes back up, but then eventually stutters like crazy & fps drops, as if it ran out of vram, ended up playing at 1440x900)
for the most part, CF is ok if you have patience for the first few weeks of a game release
some major games had bad luck this year though, crysis2, shift2, brink is the worst with CF off AND a rendering issue on 4800 series

@kn00tcn The 5870 cost £165 used, i under stand the risks but i've been after an upgrade for about 2-3 months I was surprised what this old card could do. The 2gb vram would be good since i'm playing my games at 1080p, oh and i play cod waw, left 4 dead 1+2, teamF2, crysis & just cause 2

@Damowhite123 also, you cant disable CF on x2 cards if you need to compared to having separate cards, so in some rare cases, you're stuck with a problem, but that doesnt appear too often
I got this card and I've had alot of issues with it. First off the drivers messed up both my computer and the card, second the card goes up to 81c idle with stock-coolers.
Get a new cooler you say?
Well, it's not even at the market anymore, I've looked in several stores and websites.

@Trey4yer gonna say you're 'doing it wrong', make sure it's not dusty inside the heatsink
idle doesnt particularly matter as the bios is made to be as quiet as possible with 20% idle fan
what i did was edit it to 38% & i now idle at ~45c (but before it wasnt bad ~55 or 60)
it's all about the load temps, as long as you're not going past 95 & the fan has room to go even faster
custom coolers always fit multiple cards & are on sale longer, or just get one used
make sure the VRMs are cooled, too
