Oooh i loved this film when I first saw it like 30 something years ago and have wanted the song on tap ever since.
In my head it seemed Roger Moore had his arms virtually severed, it made a big impression then. Not quite that bad in later re-views but I was young and had stacks of imagination.
I was told that it takes one ton of ore to make one ounce of gold, truly back breaking.
They'd forget their precious gold if they had to dig their own.
This is a good film. Hate South Afrikaans and apartheid though...but its a cool story and the title songs both kitsch and brilliant. Logistically it had to have most of it filmed in S.A. for authenticity.
Wish it was possible to buy this Jimmy Helms song on CD. Can't believe only 1 Jimmy Helms CD on Amazon.

Thanks for the posting. Roger Moore's best film. Great Bernstein score. Jimmy Helms great vocal. Oscar nomination for Maureen McGovern song.
This is way overdue for a good DVD release.

Excellent fan tribute to this underrated film, one of Moore's best outside of the world of Bond. Elmer Bernstein's a musical genius.

Good film. Loved living in South Africa. Apartheid? Who'd want to share restaurants, toilets etc with the Bantu?
