Dr Lipton, Thank you for what you are doing. It is in such harmony with what I do with people and assist them in achieving their new belief system. Always guiding them to find the understanding from within them. Thank you for this factual knowledge explaining what I do.

@bigu236 Where acetylation and methylation come from? Its a complex feedback system of special proteins that react to certain stimuli. A perfect example of of this would be the lac operon which determines whether or not you're lactose intolerant. That operon's correct functioning depends on the DNA.
Consciousness is a vague term that gets misused and abused. There is work linking "consciousness" to physical sources, but if you insist science can't study it then you're talking about faith.
-
@bigu236 He is trying to discredit the central dogma, which is the main idea of information transfer in genetics, in order to support his view of how consciousness can heal you but his argument is flat-out wrong. Proteins do not transfer information nor change their sequence on their own. Any folding process and resulting function is encoded by DNA. It is already well known that genes do not influence all of your behavior, but that has noting to do with the central dogma.

@dudepal187 he isn't discrediting genetics as a fact, hes discrediting genetics as a cause for all behavior and biology, scientists don't have a clue about consciousness yet, they've discovered no "physical" mechanism for it, they aren't even close, so ideas like this aren't so far-fetched, science can only prove things with repeated controlled experimentation, but how do you do that with consciousness, its not possible, epigenetics def can't accomplish such a thing
-
@dudepal187 hes not "anti-gene", hes just trying to answer the question, where does acetylation and methylation come from, and then keeps tracing it back to probably the power of conciousness, at least i think thats where hes going with it
-
@snexer actually, this is taught in most biology classes. Those useless calculations build logic, by promoting neuron pathway growth. Schools can't teach you, they only expose you to knowledge.
-
@qbulb There is a difference between being open-minded and buying into BS. His ideas are just plain wrong, this is not a matter of opinion. You can't control gene expression on the level he promises with the mind alone. If science took his ideas seriously, we would be regressing. He is stretching truth, not discovering it. Genetics is fairly well-established (granted, still lots of questions), its the newer epigenetics that he is stretching and taking advantage of.
-
@dudepal187 ...some of his ideas may be false according to others, maybe not. One thing about it is that it is a progression of genetic science. First, one bit is discovered, then later another bit is discovered and then something is discovered to be wrong and then a bit more is discovered and so on. He HAS discovered something that needs to be looked at. Science without an open mind is not science at all. Isn't it interesting that the Bible says, "As a man thinketh, so is he."
why do i get taught some useless calculations i will never need in my life in school, and this isn't taught at school?
this is what is wrong with the entire school system...
