Brian Fallon, singer of the Gaslight Anthem is playing four acoustic songs on 3 sat. Here s We did it when we were young off the recent album American slang.

Lyrics: Don't write me no more letters
My mailbox is full of bombs
Between you and the kooks on my block
I don't remember the good times
I wasn't there and you were kind
And my wife has some dogs in our yard
And I cannot hold a candle for every pretty girl
We were strangers many hours
And I missed you for so long
When we were lions, lovers in combat
Faded like your name on those jeans that I burned

But I am older now
And we did it when we were young
I am older now
And we did it when we were young

There are no reasons to believe
I buried my faith on the block
With your heart and your clothes
When I find
I don't feel you or recall
I'll put your bones out in the yard
Someone else to be called and called by
And I cannot hold a candle for every pretty girl
We were strangers many hours
And I missed you for so long
When we were lions, lovers in combat
Faded like your name on those jeans that I burned

But I am older now
And we did it when we were young
I am older now
And we did it when we were young

  • Yeah, i even wasn´t sure if he´s singin gun or girl, just googled and found that it is gun...it happens sometimes that parts of Brians lyrics don´t seem to make sense if you listen to it the first time, but after thinkin about it for a while you may agree to the people who say it s gun.

  • I swear I heard him say somewhere that this song sounded horrible when done acoustically. Maybe it was the annoying girls in the audience who wouldn't shut up about him singing it... but wow, I think he proved himself wrong. Sounds beautiful to me.

  • wow...

  • scheiße, ich kann nicht aufhören, ich muss es immer wieder hören, ich bergewaltige den replay button !!!!!

  • @dewinchy Because Brian Fallon is an incredible, passionate and soulful musician and songwriter... I personally think everybody should listen to what he's singing and take note. The lyrics are so much better than most of the garbage released these days.

  • @fuzzehCANTdance im not entirely sure but i think its a gibson bluesmaster

  • his music makes me really calm down... i love this man

  • Someone please tell me what guitar this is!!!!!

  • I can see Brian with his guitar when he'll get older.. I think he will be a sort of Johnny Cash, a legend.

  • This man is a genius songwriter such an inspiration - please view my new song 'The Blues Still Follow Romeo Around'

  • @94musikfreak well aren't they pretty much the same thing in this context? I thought it was girl too! Thanks for the heads up mate!

  • I know why he sings it calm like this, because when I play it, everytime I try to hit that note on "those jeans that I bur-uR-URNED," I'm afraid of having a brain aneurysm :)
