In February 2011 instrumentalists from the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra and singers from the Guildhall Symphony Chorus came together in the Barbican Concert Hall under the baton of conductor James Gaffigan to perform Mahler's immense second symphony. Instrumentalists and singers were well prepared: sectionals with key players from the London Symphony Orchestra had given the players the benefit of hundreds of years of orchestral experience, while vocalists had taken time to explore the meaning, harmonies and tricky pronunciations of the text in this 'Resurrection' Symphony.

  • @MrFuzzyGreen Glad you enjoyed the video. The Guildhall Symphony Orchestra will be in concert on 21 March in the Barbican Hall, in case you're interested!

  • It's nice to see a conductor doing his thing and hear how they interact with the orchestra. I like the apology to the trombones, it shows an empathy I would never have expected.
