Music Armenian traditional 'Dle Yaman' performed by David Yengibarian.

TWO PASSIONS

There was passion in stone.
When the rooted Sentinels, eyeless,
fringed the sacred wells.
Where ancient water
dreamed sluggishly
of a child bride.
There, was the aching passion of stone.

There was passion in wind.
When the voices off the salt marsh
spoke in tongues.
And candle light stained the night.
When old trees humped their bulk against the blast
And sea-mews cried.
There, was the rising passion of wind.
