Yes kids, you can save yourself from a "Fire Fuck Ball" by hiding under wood.

I'm guessing it worked out pretty well for you. Not me, I forgot to duck and cover, so I died.

Problem is. I don't duck under my table every time there's a bright flash in a lightning storm, and if you are close enough to the blast radius, you die before you know you're gonna die.

We used it to save the lives of US troops in the inevitable invasion of Japan.
Personally, I think using TWO bombs was pretty unnecessary, and using them at all was silly considering we'd just wrapped up fire bombing every major Japanese city in existence, basically destroying the Japanese capability to wage war or sleep in a house.
For what it's worth, sorry, which is something you never got from Truman, MacArthur or McNamara.

Yah a newspaper will save you from getting incinerated from an atomic bomb or save you from radiation poisoning.

The US didn't know? They invented and dropped the first ones in Japan, so they knew what kind of devastation it had. These movies were just to placate children.
