You've posted the best 6 minutes and 6 seconds of the best episode of TOS. From Scotty getting the Constellation to finally creak and groan and move under impulse power to the surprise of recharging a phaser bank to "between the two of us, we'll kill that thing!", these were certainly the best moments. From an original 52-year-old trekkie...thanks!

mr spock take command of my ship thats a dirrect order on my personal authority as commander of the enterprise...best kirk line ever!

@KJOSCOT - Something I always wondered about too. Of course thatt would mean whoever fought it before could've tried the same tactic and that thing should've been killed right there. Maybe you had to sneak the antimatter pill down with a morsel of starship food so it wouldn't be assimilated before the detonation. :))

What I found odd. If either ship had photon torpedoes, why didn't either of them ram those down its throat? Although dramatic, it should not have been necessary to waste vehicles and lives when the armaments should have done the job. Dramatic licsensining aside, it was almost as ridiculous as Kirk not ordering a shuttle to pick up the stranded crew-sicles when the transporters were duplicating their people and components.

@billyschu As they said in the story had you been paring attention its hull is impenetrable by ships Phazers or other weapon, the only way to fight it is down that things throat! No contrivance's present!
Everytime they air this episode sales of "Bugles" goes up 25%.LOL

This episode was more about revenge. Basically it's Moby Dick in space. Decker being Ahab. You could go to the deeper thing with the cold war commentary that Star Trek did back in the day, but on a more basic level, this one is about revenge and how it can totally consume you.
