This is an example of using a social web application in Middle School. Carey Pohanka worked with a teacher education student from Canada who was working with students in Malaysia, to give her students a chance to communicate with Malaysian children their own age. Issues of climate, culture and geography are covered. Google Earth is used to illustrate Malaysia's location on the globe and some of its features. This clip is part of a new DVD that will accompany Will Richardson's book, "Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms" from Corwin Press.
