In 92-93, Mogilny had 127 points in 77 games (76 fuckin goals!) and LaFontaine had 148 while missing 0 games. They had a solid supporting cast in those years too, including Hawerchuk in his twilight, Fuhr in his twilight with Hasek emerging behind him, etc. Lots of Sabres fans believe they would have beat Roy and the Canadiens if the inevitable injuries Mogilny and LaFontaine dodged in the regular season didn't catch up to them in the playoffs.

@FallenMonk55 That's true, but a big part of why they didn't win is because Bure and Mogilny both had major injury issues. Mogilny missed substantial time in every season in Buffalo. He played 79 and 76 games in his first two Nucks seasons but Bure only played 15 and 63. It was close to the same way in Buffalo with LaFontaine and Mogilny, both had major injury problems. When they did play most of a season together they absolutely blew up the league.

Vancouver and Buffalo came into the league at the same time and had two of the most exciting players who happened to be Russian at the same time, and then, of course, Mogilny got traded to Vancouver to play alongside Bure (broke my heart at the time). I find that Vancouver and Buffalo fans tend to have an affinity for each other's team, sometimes openly rooting for them.

Messier was a joke everywhere

Vancouver was and is most exciting NHL-team.
In past there was guy like Mogilny, Bure, Messier and Lumme and nowadays Sedin twins.

Vancouver had these two players at once and still couldn't win a cup. We are just not destined to win lord stanley's mug....

I agree. Everyone seems to have amnesia to his terrible years in Vancouver. He foolishly turned down Detroit's contract offer in 1997. What an idiot.
Such a skilled play, some people questioned his work ethic at times but at time he was just unstopable. Wish i could go back 11 or 12 years ago and see him and bure ripping it up again.
