There's no place like Home for the Holidays and Nevada Humane Society is asking for your help in finding homes for dogs and cats during the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive, from November 18 through January 2.

"No one wants to think of a homeless dog or cat spending the holidays in the shelter. Through the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive, we are asking the community to help these deserving pets by adopting or encouraging friends and family to adopt a pet," explained Bonney Brown, Executive Director for Nevada Humane Society. "Our goal is to find homes for 1,200 pets and with so many more pets in need this year, adoptions are critically needed. Together, we can make sure that all homeless pets in our community are truly Home 4 the Holidays!"

Adoption fees for Home for the Holidays are $45 for adult dogs, $10 for adult cats and $30 for kittens under 4 months of age. Every dog, cat, and kitten at Nevada Humane Society is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. These services would normally cost over $200 so this is a real holiday bargain. Senior citizens may adopt pets 6 years of old and older for free.

Home 4 the Holidays is a nationwide pet adoption drive now in its 13th year. It was created to move animals out of shelters and into good homes during a season of giving and love. Nevada Humane Society is one of thousands of participating animal shelters across the nation with a goal of adopting a million and a half pets this year.

"The holidays are about sharing time with family and friends and for many of us who love animals, this includes the four-legged family members," said Diane Blankenburg, Nevada Humane Society Community Programs Director. "Home 4 the Holidays is the perfect way to remind everyone that there are orphaned pets in shelters longing for a home of their own for the holidays."

Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions 7 days a week (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas day) from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and an hour earlier at 10am on Saturdays. The adoption center is located at 2825 Longley Lane, Reno.
