These uses of federal power you mention are indeed Constitutional-infrastructure,
disaster recovery, & natl security. The issue is when un-Constitutional laws are passed by the fed govt. For ex: Prior to the 1930s, the supreme court concluded that minimum wages imposed by the fed was not Constitutional as that power was not given to the fed and it interfered with the right to private contract. The govt might be able to "fix" some things, but that doesn't make it Constitutional. -
Did FDR destroy the constitution when he built damns, bridges and roads; replaced our farmland lost in the dust-bowl; then built on that strength to organize the largest invasion force ever seen? This led to massive expansion of the middle class and one of the most prosperous periods in our history. From the depths of the depression to the moon in just 4 decades and almost all of it government driven!

The German health care system dates in part to 1883 and covers all people under a mix of public and private plans. That means that those scientists, engineers, workers and other people who helped propel German innovation and create the wonderful products you mention above benefited directly from their universal health care system. I want my health care system to be at least as high quality and as available as it is in Germany!

No government's ability to coordinate has ever come close to the market's ability to coordinate. West Germany gave us the BMW, the Mercedes, and the VW while East Germany gave us the Trabant. I want my health care to be of VW quality, not Trabant quality.

"stealing is wrong; no matter who does it"

We disagree, but that's ok. That's what makes America great-we all have our own opinions. I believe that if we allow the govt 2 take over private enterprise & control how we live our lives, we have not just "bent" the constitution, we have destroyed it. It goes against the core principles of our founders, what was written into the constitution, and we will become just like any other country in history and we will lose the difference that has made us such a prosperous nation.
-
In times such as this, I believe that the central government will have to take a stronger and more active role. This includes passing health care reform, cap and trade, and increasing funding of scientific and technological research. This is true as no other institution has the ability to make the coordinated changes that need to be made for us to survive as a nation. I know that is difficult for those who believe in small government, but I believe you will see in the end why it is/was necessary.

I think the beauty of the constitution is that throughout our history it has been able to bend without breaking. It has provided a strong foundation for our government, but if amendments and changing interpretations hadn't occurred, it would have failed long ago.
At this time in our history I believe we face unprecedented challenges... Looming energy shortages, environmental catastrophes as well as health and economic problems.

Love your video w/ the black and white! Thanks for making it! I will always remember the day we stood for our Country, the REPUBLIC!!
Thanks for sharing your vision of the future of America... It is clear you have many people who agree with your vision... Don't forget though.... There are many Americans who disagree and support the current administration! We are American people too... You don't get to define what it means to be an American!

Thanks, scotths. I completely agree with you. No party, president, congress, senate, or group of individuals gets to define what it means to be an American. The American principles have already been defined for us by the Constitution! And, if we can secure our individual liberties away from all the politicians (on both sides), then we can each be free to live out our lives however we wish and our differences of opinion can then be celebrated! Thanks for the comment.
