Everyone talks about how funny Hannibal King is but they tend to ignore how well Ryan handled the character`s more tragic side : the dude fell in love with a chick from a wrong side of the street , found out she was a vampire , probably spent years as a familiar before finally being turned and forced to see and do horrible things . So contrary to Blade`s belief , Hannibal`s sense of humor was more of a coping mechanism than not taking the job seriously which he clearly did .
