So I finally got around to upgrading my stereo.
The sound is crystal clear in person, regardless of volume. However you can see that it gets too loud for my camera's mic pretty quick.
For reference, most (including this) Pioneer head units go to a max of 62 Volume. This video is recorded mostly between 10 and 15.
I'll do a walkthrough video of the setup at some point, but it's still lacking a few things visually (Missing a grill on one of the subs still, hiding and strapping a couple of wires on the sub box, etc)
The songs in order are: (Genre in brackets)
(Nu-Metal) 40 Below Summer - Jonesin' [0:01]
(Classical) Andrea Bocelli - Vivere [1:06]
(Progressive Metal) Between the Buried and Me - Ants of the Sky [3:54]
(Techno/Trance) Cosmic Gate - The Wave [5:27]
(Nerdcore Rap) Futuristic Sex Robotz - Back to the Future [6:37]
Let me know what you think :D
-------------------
The Setup:
Head Unit: Pioneer FH-P8000BT Double-DIN, bluetooth ready, USB iPod support, AUX input, mic input, wireless remote, wired remote support (for steering wheel buttons), 7-band EQ built in, etc
Amplifiers: A Pioneer 760Watt 2-ch powering the door speakers (all four) and a Twister F2-500 2-ch 1250Watt amp powering the two subs
Speakers: Pioneer 3-way 6x9's in the back, stock 6 1/2" components up front
Subs: 2x Pioneer Premier TS-W1500SPL 10" 1500W max, 600W RMS Dual Voice Coil
Wires: 4AWG power/ground all around, 12AWG speaker wire on the subs, 16AWG speaker wire on the door speakers. StreetWires ZN-5 and ZN-7 RCA cables
Capacitor: 1-Farad Stinger
Entirely self installed.
Love the song choice! Haha Ants of the Sky is one of my faves! I'm ordering this unit and can't wait to put it in. Good choice with the music selection to really show everything.

@Turbojuice1603 Thanks! I tried to represent a reasonably number of genres without playing anything that might generate angry "WTF ARE YOU LISTENING TO" type comments :)
I hope this unit works as well for you as it has been working for me.

plz i need a quick response from you ! i wanna buy it. but will it improve the sound quality over the stock unit? and are you using stock speakers? get to me ASAP! thanks

@ExtraTerrestrials Sorry, I haven't been checking YT much lately.
Any aftermarket deck will improve your sound quality *drastically*, even with stock speakers. The deck I have has a built in 7-band equalizer which will give you more control over the sound than most decks which usually only have 3-band (Low, Med, High) EQs.
In this video I was running stock speakers up front with aftermarket Pioneer 6x9s in the back.
Now I have some Infinity Kappas up front. Love em.

do you need any adaptors that go from the headunit to the OEM plugs in the car. i have an 05 honda civic, and just ordered this radio. or will the factory plugs from my car hook up to the headunit without other adaptors or wires?
xxxjohnsonnnxxx 1 year ago
@xxxjohnsonnnxxx Yes. Every aftermarket head unit requires you to buy a wiring harness for your make and model of car. It will make it nice and easy to adapt the new deck to the factory harness without having to cut wires.
Just ask at any stereo dealer nearby; they will have one. Typically about $15 to $30, with a few exceptions.
