The Mods were originally the children of the Second World War. Life after the war during the 1950s swiftly became dull and unwanted by these younger generations. They longed for a more exciting life style were the word freedom would apply more to their own wants and needs. So by the late 50s a new lifestyle was emerging. A lifestyle that scared and worried older generations who had become custom to the quiet after war years. This lifestyle would later become known as Mod. Cheap and easy to get scooters became there form of transport. Money was no longer hard to get hold of. And with money came the ability to buy tailor made suits and the latest fashions along with alcohol and drugs. Music such as Northern Soul and SKA was much preferred rather than the old love songs of the earlier years. Bands such as the Kinks and Small Faces began to give British music a new area. All this put together created what the pill poping, music loving, scooter riding teens called Mod.
The meaning of Mod may have changed to some. But it is still however here to this day. And I live for the day that once again the sound of scooters can be heard in the streets. Maybe that will never happen but I know that people will always and forever call themselves Mods. And that more and more teenagers as seen over the past few years in Britain are once again turning to this lifestyle known as Mod. We all know the old saying "Once a Mod, Always a Mod" and that seems to live strong to this very day. We Are The Mods!

I'm 15, I'm the only mod in my town, and I'm the only guy around here who still listens to classic rock or ska. I am the face.

Move to Spain or Italy! Scooters, including many old Vespas and Lambrettas, dominate the roads. They are cheap to buy too, as the locals like the new auto models, and there are always lots to had for a few hundred euros. I bought a 70s Primavera for about 400 quid when I lived over there...
