Modern Air Convair CV-990A-"Landing 1R SFO"-1970

This means everything to me, as the Runway 1 landings only happened about 4 or 5 days a year; turning final right over my old neighborhood, it was like having your own private airshow on your front porch.

And what are the chances of capturing a CV-990 performing said approach?!

Boeing 707 landing gear included. :-)

The seats and most of the cabin look like the mockup used for the movie "Airport". The stewardess uniform is from the movie "Lost Flight," a movie about a fictional Trans-Pacific-Airlines Boeing 720B. The wierd thing about this movie is that there is only 1 stewardess on a plane that big, there should be at least 2 more. And yes, Modern Air did retro-fit their aircraft with track flooring allowing for seating at 6 abreast.

Interesting, it really was 1R although 28R is a much longer runway. Btw, the old fire house is now gone. I agree, it had to be a 707 Type Hollywood prop. interior, no way can you get a 3 X 3 interior like this in a Convair.

It had a 6 abreast (3 seats-aisle-3 seats) interior, does anyone know if Modern Air indeed crammed in 6 seats a row in their Convair 990s or were the interior shots in a Boeing 707 or 727? It more looks like one of these with the 1960s open overhead racks interior. The DC-8 is out of the question (too many windows and different sort of seats)

thanks for the video - Detective something-something, 1970, the guy was in Gunsmoke, Adam something. Imagine in real life a security agent using sub·ter·fuge and kidnapping on government officials to deliver a 0.50 cent safety lesson....ha ! His ass would be back in the unemployment line. Better get those fire trucks up to 80 mph for safety! and quick turns for no chance of roll over, oh, and drive those limos inches from the engines! ha, beautiful. more !
