They weren't miming, I'm pretty sure they were actually playing but they just put the audio from the CD over it.

Sorry to disagree with a couple of the comments / observations on this topic ~ the 'Dambusters ' theme as its being called is , I believe , the theme from '633 Sqn' the Mosquito attack . The music instantly reminds me of the scene where the initial attack swoop along almost at wave level up the fjord .

@stormcruiser2 As far as i know it is called ' Dambusters '. There is also a hymn to the melody called ' God is our Strength '.
