First, I am very pleased to see the "Ghost Cruise" stuff all gone; it was kinda morbid to see it on such a fine ship of the Great Lakes. Second, I am very happy the Ste. Claire is getting a refit. Finally, a great tribute to a great ship who outlived Titanic and could be cruising again. Thanks to all the volunteers who are rebuilding a great jewel of the memories of thousands of people around Windsor and Detroit...toot...toot...Ste. Claire!!!!

@cptboblo 'Columbia', I can't believe I couldn't remember her name! LOL

Things seem to be up in the air. There has been little to no communication with the owners. Looks like the only ship coming back might be the Columbia. Even the pictures of the volunteers on the website have been removed. It's sad and a slap in the face to all the people who have worked so hard to help in this projects success.

@nevsky1961 ...... The owner is working on getting drawings done so the rebuild can begin. Keep your fingers crossed.

Work has started on the Ste. Claire for this season. We will be working hard this year and part of next so that she can come back to Detroit for her 100th birthday sometime next year.

Where is she docked? Have they tried turning over the engine to see if its seized? Will she sail again?

The Ste. Claire is docked in River Rouge, behind her sister ship the Columbia. The engines will be replaced but something will be worked out to keep the pistons going up and down. The plans are to get her sailing again, however that will take some time. She will be back, hopefully for 2010 for her 100th birthday, but she will only be docked.
