  • Yes it is doable (we did it on Canal du Nivernais when the kids were 9 and 4). Whomever is at the helm can tend a line, but be ready on the throttle if something happens. COMMUNICATION between a husband and wife is key (i.e. talk it through in advance). Have a great trip!

  • Useful video - we're off to Canal du Midi in June and wondering how we'll manage the locks with just 2 adults and a small child. Looks as if it'll be difficult but possible with practice!

  • take the music out

  • BUENÍSIMO

  • We were on the canal for a week and did not see one person wearing flotation ever. This isn't nanny state USA where you have the police watching your every move on the water. OTOH, we didn't see a single drunk or reckless boater, either, like you do in the USA.

  • # 1 rule when boating put on ur life jacket,

2 bad u had to learn the hard way, I am not a real strong swimmer so when i go boating first thing i do is put my life jacket on, the last thing i do when done boating is take my jacket it off

  • YES and its not very nice...i was lucky to get out alive

  • I thought intersting, music was lame

  • have you?

  • so you let your kids walk round the boat without a lifejacket on ,have you ever fallen in a lock that filling ??? ...i gess not.
