I have a question...Do you regret having the surgery? Also, I have not heard about this golden year...do you have more info on that? I know people who are two years out and are still loosing and did not do much more then a 30 minute walk a few times a week. I realize you are trying to be honest, but everyone also has to understand that every SINGLE case is different. The post op diet and instructions are very specific in that if you do not follow them you will have serious health problems.

I don't take Magnesium but I do take a multivitamin. I get my blood checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies twice a year to make sure I'm getting all I need. Thanks.

Also, do you take Magnesium? Very Important!

THANK YOU so much for being honest about your experience. I had been considering this procedure along with lapband but was apprehensive because I knew I had to address my emotional eating issues. Again thanks for sharing.

I never lost all the weight that I wanted to, although I did lose 120 pounds. It has been 5 years and I never really exercised, and eat whatever I want, as much as I can and I have gained maybe 20 pounds... I deserve to gain more than that! However, I also have lingering health issues. Since I had the D/S procedure, I have serious malaborption... it is how my procedure was designed to prevent weight gain. But I am anemic because I don't take vitamins like I should. Kind of hard to take so many.

Initially it's hard to take all the vitamins and supplements but now, I don't really think about it. I colleague had the surgery, became anemic because she was only taking a Flinstone chewable a year after her surgery and actually almost died...so I don't play around when it comes to taking my vitamins.

I also had "gastric bypass" surgery. I am a health care professional, and I think you should also mention that there are several VERY DIFFERENT bypass procedures. It is just like saying "I had surgery on my heart" but not including that you had open heart surgery versus a pace maker placement. Although both surgeries are on "the heart" they benefit the heart in VERY DIFFERENT WAYS.
What type of gastric bypass surgery did you have?
I have noticed post bypass patients gaining weight years later

I had Roux En Y and I do mention that, plus other procedures in another video.
