cz the driver is the outside influence of the case he is the dominate cause of the death

the mob caused the kid to escape not to be run over by the car !!

In a Mat Damon movie a kid was confronted by a mob or about 6 kids who wanted to confiscate his cell phone. There was a brief struggle, the kid escape and run, he was chased by the mob. The kid run into a street where a speeding car was coming. Eventually the kid was run over and died. Who is the proximate cause, the mob or the speeding driver?
