@luxenfux As for glass and asphalt, you just don't have time to worry about it and in my experience you don't feel any of that shit because your adrenalin is running high. obviously the morning after the grazes and cuts hurt but if your conscious enough to worry about scrapes and bumps the day after you know they're not worth worrying about at all, because you just feel lucky your training kept you safe and you live another day.

@luxenfux Unfortunately I have been attacked on numerous occassions and had alot of experience in street fights, always fighting more than one opponent, sometimes up to 8 people. I can't say I won all of those fights but what i can say is having trained at an SBG ATG for two years, the preparedness for real live agression offered by aliveness in training kept me calm, allowed me to apply grappling and clinch techniques effectively, incapacitate attackers and saved my life.

This seems to be a pretty common misconception, but why exactly do you think you would end up on top of a grappler in a fight? You'll be UNDERNEATH the grappler, and his friends, getting your skull caved in at their leisure.
And, since you decided that grappling was "gay", or because some pot-bellied Sifu informed you that nobody grapples in the street, you would have no idea whatsoever how to escape. You would not be able to defend yourself.
If you can't wrestle, you can't fight.

Oh, we'd be happy to, just as soon as boxers start sparring bare-knuckle.
Wait, you're serious? What, the dudes are going to go out in the parking lot and train wrestling on the asphalt? Wow, good luck keeping membership at that gym.
In reality, the great thing about knowing grappling is that you don't have to go to the ground unless you want to. What, are you going to take me down? Doubtful. Can I take you to quarters, and, I don't know, soccer kick your head a bunch of times? Absolutely.

I agree with most of the commentary here, but to follow the idea about self defence reality based MA the grappelers, like the ones in the video need to graplle on asfalt, street curves and maybe some broken glass - cause thats the surface on which fight often happen. (and against multiple opponents)

Totally true. It does not mean that Wing Chun doessnt work, but that teachers teach it wrong nowadays.
In the old days, the students would spar against each other, full-contact and they'd also go out and challange students from other schools. People don't do that anymore.
You should always train everything while thinking about how to use them in a fight(and actually spar)

Nice job,The only way to know what works is to do it live.I took wing chun in Colorado back in the early 90s and I wanted to test it out in a fight (I was @ that school for 5yrs)I got my ass handed to me with that classical wing chun crap.I started to train like I would fight and Imy skill level went up 100%. So matt keep speeking the truth the real fighters feel you. GREAT JOB!!!

The big guy with the goat is Adam Singer, Rory's brother...
The i-method is proper martial arts training broken down into written/spoken word. Explaining common sense. And this kind of video is long over-due in the martial arts world.

Great posting! I-method makes sense. I have tried a concept close to this and have found great results. I had taken a martial art for 10yrs and found that classical at times is not practical. But once I applied this concept not only did it warp speed me past all others. I later found out the Instructor felt threatened and dismissed me.
Keep up the good work!
