Hi , I just received my solder paste from cooltools, it doesn't work. Does it not work on brass. what kind of torch do you use??
thanks

You can actually quench the work in pickle to save time. I find that even if the pickle solution is heated it can take a couple minutes to dissolve the firecoat on a cold piece, but if you quench the piece in heated pickle the firecoat is dissolved nearly instantaneously.

How do you polish them?

@iloveanabel730 I polish my silver after soldering by burnishing with a brass bristle brush, then tumble with steel shot... you can also give your silver a scuffed matte polish with fine grit sandpaper or sanding pads :)

another question, is it lead free ??

@carjomaha yes, it is lead free as far as I'm aware... the tube does say in contains fluorides, so always use in a well ventilated area.

can you tell me if the solder dries out quickly even kept in the fridge? Where do you buy it ?
carjomaha 6 months ago
@carjomaha Mine has not dried out on me yet, and I'm still using the same tube I purchased over 6 months ago! And I just keep mine on my bench. I buy my silver solder paste from CoolTools.us ... they are known for their fantastic metal clay products.
