Nobody respected and revered Hendrix more than SRV. He didn't want to just play like him, but wanted to BE him. That's where his fashion sense came from. I agree both were masters but I also will admit that I prefer Stevie's way of playing Little Wing, Third Stone, Voodoo Chile much more. Maybe not everybody does, and that's okay. I like stuff you won't, and you like stuff I won't. Just be glad we live in a country where we can freely listen to both.

Stevie was not only a great guitar player, but also a great showman. He really showed what he felt on stage, and that makes it more intresting to watch his live videos than listen to his records.

@velocityidp you happen to like this version better, but it doesn't blow away hendrix's original

I'm extremely careful to not throw the word "genius" around carelessly, but the more I listen to SRV and try to learn his material, I can't help but attach this label to him. I love Hendrix, but every song of his that SRV remastered I prefer listening to more than than Jimi's version.
And as far as him copying Hendrix...since when is it anything uncommon for musicians to take a second look at what others have done before and expand on it? Get over it. SRV and Hendrix were both masters.

This blows Hendrix away, both in terms of composition and technical ability. I realize it's Hendrix's original song, but...
