On a cool and blustery Sunday morning 11/4/2007, I caught a faded and peeling BNSF warbonnet #946 (C40-8W) pulling NS 980 northbound past the depot in Norcross, Georgia on the Norfolk Southern Piedmont Division between milepost 619 and 618. Today this train consists of 14 flatcars of Caterpillar heavy equipment. At the beginning you can hear the train blowing for the crossings on the south side of town before activating the defect detector at milepost 619.0. Next, you can hear the grade crossings being activated in town, first at the Holcomb Bridge Road crossing and then the Jones Street crossing, which you can see just in front of the depot. Finally, after passing we can hear the train call the clear signal and a speed of 40 mph at CP Beaver Dam just north of town.

  • If you lived here and had to hear that damn train all day and night, you wouldn't think it was so wonderful. I'm about to contact the EPA about doing something about that horn.

  • if you live in norcross you guys have the money to pony up the $10 million or so to put a quiet zone on each crossing there :)

  • Yeah but I would bet if a person that whinned about the horn was hit it would be the first thing out of their mouth during a law suit. It didn't blow the horn. Like the other guy said the rail line was there long before you were. SO suck it up or simply move.

  • @profling Booh fucking who!!!!!! bet that rail line was there many more years before you were, you probably got a good rent on the place due to location so suck it up sunshine

  • Nice Catch

  • If your a tenant then you can just up and move out. EPA won't do anything for ya, sorry. Locomotives are the most Eco. friendly way to transport stuff! Sorry for your issues!

  • "People like me" did not buy their house. I am a tenant dealing with noise pollution. So shut up, bowler.

  • People like you knew what you where dealing with when you bought your house it's not like they just put in a busy mainline in over night.

  • great video 5*

  • What they got Santa Fe train on the rail

  • I counted 11 Caterpillar's on board.Alot of them were pipelayers

  • they won't do nothin for one person, trust me
