Trex 450 Pro Flybarless w/ FL760 + Edge 325 FBL blades + Trueblood green super-hard dampers. (formatted the SD card and it reset my date. this video was from 11/12/10)

Nothing special, just some rolling, flipping, piroing & combos that used to give this unit fits with stock dampers and Align 325D blades.

Note this 450Pro is mechanically stock except for the motor/esc. It is running the Scorpion 2221/10 motor on 4s w/ the ICE75 ESC.

Both my 250 and 450 had significant AIL bobbles and serious ELE bobbles that could not be dialed out with the software or other hardware changes (different sensor mounting, CG locations, link geometry, etc. After 6 weeks of fiddling and adjusting all possible combinations of software, I finally ran across some posts that suggested hard dampers and FBL blades.

the 3G is updated to 2.1 firmware. Aside from that I reset the unit back to factory, installed the dampers, and strapped on the blades. The result is this video. Literally no adjustments anywhere aside from the suggested settings in the manual. gain pots are at 11 o'clock. swash mix AIL and ELE are +4 points from the DIR setup values to give quicker roll and flip rates.

So, anyone considering the 3G unit for a 450, two things: FBL blades and Hard dampers.

until there are FBL blades for the 250 I won't be attempting any further adjustments.

  • just thought i'd post an update. i finally settled in on the CY425FBL blades. they feel a good bit heavier in the air. i had to dial up the AIL/ELE swash mixes nearly 40 points to get the flip/roll rates shown here with the edge blades. but, the CYs took all the bobbles and hesitations completely out. before i found the CYs i was seriously thinking of pulling the 3G and replacing with a BeastX (which i use on my 250 flawlessly). but, now with the CYs the 3G performs just fine.

  • you should see a .90 fly in person some time. this little mosquito is not scary in the least.

  • Nice!! Getting a 450 clone on Friday... I can't wait! I am not into fbl yet though, as I am just getting back into the CP world after a crash of my TT Inno EXP took me out due to Ace going out of business. Hobbico (the new US retailer) doesn't care about it's lack of Innovator parts... they never know when the TT parts will come in.

  • You got pretty close to the camera there a few time's that looked dangerous man.

  • Looks good! Now let's see those Align 325D blades.
