Has this ever happened to you? I had been running Cubase for several hours, mixing a fairly complicated multitrack project (a soundtrack for a video PSA), when suddenly my MacBook's screen started to flicker and the whole laptop froze. It kept repeating of flicker, then freeze, until finally I rebooted. I grabbed my Flip cam while this was happening to document the unusual event. I thought it might be of interest to my fellow Mac geeks and musician friends!
After successfully rebooting, I ran TechTool Pro 5 to see what the source of the problem might have been, but there is no indication of a hardware problem. I've been using Macs and Cubase for many MANY years now and, while I've seen a few crashes in my day, this one was particularly scary because I've never seen anything like this before. I did manage to recover and continue working on my project, but I lost about a half-hour's worth of work. It was pretty frustrating watching this take place on the screen... you can hear a few few distinct sighs coming from me as I watched this event unfold! Hopefully it won't happen again, but not knowing WHY it happened at all is still a bit disconcerting!
