  • Thank you for sharing your story. Read our Scotsman's opinion column on why the use of 'mong' or 'mongoloid' should never describe people with Down's syndrome. Go to the Scotsman web site and type in "The 'M' Word is as Unacceptable as the 'N' Word". How is your son getting on now? We hope he's striving for his full potential!

  • @DSScotland Eli is wonderful! He works 2 days a week, attends a stimulation learning program the other 3 days. He has his own apartment with caregivers and is happy. He learns everyday and loves life. Thanks for asking. You can see him on my utube page.

  • My DS son was born in 1977. The doctors were extremely cruel in telling us his condition. They said, your baby is a Mongoloid and that was it! The genetic specialist came in and said, he will never ride a bike, play games and he will be a burden. They tried to trick us into signing papers to give the state of Tennessee custody. I was only 20 and my husband 25 at the time. I recorded everything in a journal, with documents for the next 22 years, then I published my private journal in 2008
