After finding a complete(hardware anyway) 59 Dorsett Belmont with a bad Merc700, I did not know if she had been a "sport" model or a "luxury model" Because there was nothing in the cockpit. I used brochures I saw from GOLDEN STATE GLASSICS http://www.goldenstateglassics.com/ to determine which would fit my needs. I had to remove most of the gelcote because of crazing. The windshield was cracked and came apart when I removed it. I had the folks at Wayne Earl Mfg. custom make one using my frame. I mixed Interlux KELLY GREEN AND BLUE WITH BLUGLO WHITE with the help of West Marine techs, to make a seafoam green shade to match the origional as close as possible I had a 1960 Mercury Mark 55 that would barely push her, so I repowered with a 70 Erude, which required upgrading to hydrolic steering.I needed to lift the motor 4 inches because it is a long shaft so I added a jackplate to do the job.I added 3 more yards of glass to the 6 yards I had used In the origional restoration before powering with the 70. I patterned a storage bulkhead frter brother Pauls 1959 Eldorado which he found 1 year after the origional restoration. I custom made it to fit the 200 watt sound system I had already installed.

    Blue & White.

  • 90% white...5% blue and 5% green? Sounds like a winner! It's a hard color to find. Wonder why they don't make it already. Only a gazillion old boats were that color. Oh well..Thanks!
