@mrpppoppp1 His stack size at that point was 4x the pot, he was short on chips basically and thats a good spot to stick it in when your down that much, he had an up & down straight draw with top pair. Its a strong play to move in on the flop cause you have top pair and villian can be c-betting ak,aq,etc etc

@mrpppoppp1 It's because he thought Antonius might have a hand like AK AQ probably and is just doing a see bet. If he checked, every card higher than 5 might have given Antonius a higher pair He hit an up and down straight draw so he had like 30% chances of collecting straight on turn or a river. Plus he had top pair. Another 3 or 5 gave him two pairs or a three fives. So he had pretty good odds of winning. It was very unlikely Antonius hit a set. Agression pays off... :)

okay, can someone please explain something to me.

I'm new to poker (trying to learn).

why did negreanu go all in after the flop? if he didn't hit the straight then he had nothing and the odds of hitting the straight weren't too great, right?

so why not check? etc?
