@JayJayhope I didn't know any of the runners to Canada. Only a few, that chose to go to college, instead of serving.

I did know a few that didn't believe in the war. They served in a non-combative job, but they served. And they wouldn't accept their combat pay and donated it to a charity instead, but they served.

Actually most of the people I knew, went into the military and served.

In hind sight, we were probably better off without them in combat.

@DD826 I'd tried to reserve judgement on those who fled to hide out in Canada. Since I was in the same age brackett as those draft dodgers, I knew a few. I can't say this in every case, but in many, it was cowardice, pure and simple. And considering how important it is to be a "brother" on the battlefield, I think the cowards may have done the brave ones a favor by taking a powder. I just wish they stayed in Canada. Thanks for YOUR bravery, brother.
