Energy is a global issue that puts CPI at the heart of the UKs drive to bring new sustainable energy sources into use. With Governments' increased pressure to reduce carbon footprints and improve energy security, CPIs work in alternative energy technologies offers high potential to help reduce the strain on our planet.

Technologists from around the country are taking advantage of CPIs fuel cell and hydrogen testing laboratories. CPI has also successfully demonstrated the use of hydrogen as an energy store several times most notably in the worlds first hydrogen fuel cell powered lighthouse on Teesside.

The Tees Valley is an excellent base, with infrastructure and expertise in place thanks to the regions historical links with the chemical industry.

  • Air Recycling Technology if used in Vacuum Cleaners could save annually in the UK, an amount of energy equal to that generated by 800 Medium sized wind generators.

This is based on tests made for the DTI and MTP.

That is 1.5 TWh of electricity worth £225 million and 650,000 Tonnes of CO2. And a saving of more than 25 Twh of electricity annually is possible in the EU. Equal to £3.25 Billion pounds and 13.5 million tonnes of CO2 It is still waiting for Government help.
