This is a racist dog-whistle campaign. Unfortunately, blacks, as a political force, have already painted themselves into this corner, when the majority of black voters opposed same-sex marriage in Calif., and have polled as not very gay-friendly in general. There is evidence of this, and the blatant hypocrisy of supporting the present system of second-class citizenship for gays by a group who were themselves classified similarly, is mind-blowing.
