Wonderful history molded the Municipality of Basey, thus its name "beauty". Its civilization started long before the coming of the Spaniards that bolstered farther its colours into what it is today. Its people represents the different culture that nortured its name.
The Municipality of Basey during World Ward II was the US Naval Base for intelligence and more popularly known as the Joint Intelligence for Naval and Marine Operation Center (JINAMOC) that orchestrated the return of Gen. Douglas MacArthur in 1944. Today, the island is called Jinamoc Island. This island was vital to the war in the Pacific. From 1944 to 1945 the island became the seaplane base of the fighting flying boat which provides berthing and repair of the Patrol Bombing Squadron 20 and the amphibious forces. What remains now of the facilities are the ghosts of the once feared and dreaded forces.

  • @arigatooguzaimasu

I'm glad you once stayed there for awhile. Anyway, I just hope you will be able to help Basey in the context of tourism development! Good luck and God Bless. . . .

Today (October 20, 2010) marks the 66th anniversary of the Leyte Landing. There's always this question that floats in my mind, "Is the celebration fair?". History have forgotten the role JINAMOC Island and the Parola of Marabut. No one had ever mentioned what their role was during WWII or is it until now remains an intelligence center or confidential?

The people of Leyte celebrates the event from the Hill 121 of Dulag down to Palo/Tacloban.

    It's HIPO-CRAZY indeed!

  • MrNdcinco1,dito na kami nakatira sa cagayan de oro, every December lang kami maka bakasyon sa Jinamoc.

  • I see. But, just the same I hope the local government unit of Basey will look at its potential positively.

    Good luck and God Bless!

  • nice view sa Parola dyan kami naliligo sa tabing dagat ang pangalan dyan ay Balawarte,sa itaas dyan katabi ng Parola ay may Cementeryo, dyan nakalibing lolo at lola ko at mga kamag-anak.

  • Otad2008, I'm very glad this video reminded you of your beautiful place. Your place needs some pushing to become the only island golf course in the country apart from being an ideal place for horseback riding, wind surfing and scuba diving at the berthing place of the PBS 20.

I hope and pray that you can help develop your place as one of the best tourism site in San Pedro Bay just as I wished it to be.

Thank you very much. God Bless
