Zimbabwe cabinet nominee charged with treason -14 Feb 09

Roy Bennett, a nominee for deputy minister of agriculture, was arrested at a Harare airport and charged with treason for allegedly plotting to kill Robert Mugabe, the Zimbabwean president.

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party's statement described the charges against him as "scandalous" and "politically motivated".

i agree. I'm all for sensible and planned land reform. Land reform is NOT the issue. The issue is the majority of all Zimbabweans want democracy and don't want Mugabe in power anymore. Mugabe is misdirecting attention to land reform away from his corrupt and despotic rule, but no one is fooled. No one.
