This is so sad! I used to live in Gulf Breeze and I have so many fond memories of Pensacola Beach / Fort Pickens!

Never seen a storm so far away bring in such a significant storm surge, we've had tropical storms that have made direct hits that didn't even generate that kind of surge we got from Ike.
