Here's a quick little tip to help you enable Stereo Mix in your Vista computer. I hope this helps you. Also, you can use it to record anything that you hear on your PC. Absolutely anything. I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, along with my others, and that you will comment, rate, and subscribe.

  • wow i dont have stereo mix is there any way to get it?

  • Not without buying a new Sound Card and installing it, no. I guess you'll have to do without Stereo Mix, I guess.

  • @xMP44x yes there is

  • Really? Never heard of any ways to enable it on an unsupported card though, but whatever.

  • I've known how to do this since i got Vista on the new comp but when I used it to sound clip record on windows messenger it doesn't work at all. Yet it is the valid sound output device that i'm selecting as the recording device, any ideas mate? Cheers.

  • Hmm... never thought of doing something like that before. I don't really have any ideas. I suppose you could check and see you haven't turned Stereo Mix off though?

  • RAWRZ IDK WUT TO DO!!!! I have cod4 and i had stereo mix last time but now its not here!

  • @waterastrogirl Right click on my computer in the start menu and select properties. At the top it should say what OS you have and what service pack is installed.

  • i wonder if my os is really vista ?

i mean it does looks like yours, but the audio setting window looks just like xp's .

    can you help me? :)

  • @Anarchist86ed Ok, you mind telling me what your little "trick" is? You say all you need is fraps and windows media player... but what do you do?

  • There has to be another way to do this... I mean, basically what you're telling me is that you can only record sound from your computer with 1 brand of speakers? lol Everyone says "duuh, just enable stereo mix" well those of us who don't have "realtekkkk" need some help. I have seen 500 "duh, just enable stereo mix" videos... it's like I'm in the twilight zone.

  • really not a problem. You can record audio by doing a "trick". I use fraps, and windows media player to do it. It's lame, but it actually works better then recording from stereo mix. And I get a HQ audio recording I can take into sony vegas and either use the audio there or export it to an audio program.
