Using data from USFS NIROPS (http://nirops.fs.fed.us/) and GoogleEarth I've built a fly through with the elevation exaggerated 2x to show the distinction and path of the Waldo Canyon fire boundaries. The boundaries are approximations and while it may appear a house is within a fire boundary, that DOES NOT mean it has been lost.

Legend:
Green - Sat. 6/23
Yellow - Sun. 6/24
Orange - Mon. 6/25
Blue - Tues. 6/26
Red - Weds. 6/27

The perimeter fire data is pulled from the USGS Rocky Mtn Geographic Science Center:

Very well done. I've driven through the area, but this really helped visualize it. Thoughts and prayers for all affected, and big time attaboys for the firefighters who did such great work!

Yes I agree. It takes you to a more perspective view of the fire. I'm so sorry Colorado. But thanks for the view

It really does help understand the skips and jumps that the fire made as well as why there were unburned stands within the fire perimeter.
