Combat Photojournalist hit by sniper in Afghanistan

In late September 2008, while embedded with US Marines and Afghan Paramilitary Units, Keith Lepor was shot by a sniper. This is the helmet camera footage showing the attack, and the marine that saved his life that day. Support the men and women who continue to fight for freedom and democracy throughout the world.

Keith was hit by a sniper round in his chest armor, a few inches above his heart. The US Marine who saved his life heard the shot and called for Afghan forces to launch an RPG attack. He then noticed Keith on the ground, and pulled him to safety. Keith indicated that he was not shot, but later it was determined that the bullet hit him just above his name plate, square in the chest.

Damn he's a lucky bastard, it didn't surprise me when He said he didn't get hit cause sometimes when your so excited and adrenalin is pumping you have no clue what happened or if you really did get hit, pain doesn't register

I'm sure he was creeping out trying to get a photo, notice all the marines already behind cover, he is not. Had he followed the marines he wouldnt of gotten shot and the marines wouldn't of had to take EXTRA risk. I'm sure those marines would just shrug it off, because thats what grunts do. From my personal experience when reporters from BBC came with us and couldn't keep up or slowed us down to take a picture, it resulted in Marines with shrapnel from rpg's or bullet holes, so SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Well I stated, calmly, that I felt the marines actions here were extremely professional and I felt he was incredibly calm in what is a highly stressful situation. You in turn spouted a torrent of nonsensical abuse. It is obvious the journalist was following the exact same path the marines and ANA had just taken when he was struck. He wouldn't be out there if he didn't know what to do.
